Halloween is just a stone’s throw away and with it, comes the full tummies from so much candy. It’s a given – you go trick or treating with the kids (or without) and you’ll end up bringing home buckets and bags filled with candy and chocolates. There goes all the hard work you’ve put into the gym over the summer!
We’ve got great news though. The Halloween bulge doesn’t have to be and with these great healthy Halloween treats for adults, you can still enjoy the scary season without compromising your health.
Trick or Treat
The most important thing is that you get creative – you can still have healthy treats that look (and taste) amazing.
You might indulge in these yourself before you head out, or they’re great options to make for those visiting your home. That way, you’re doing your part for your neighbor’s health as well. Some great ideas include:
- Cinnamon-sugar coated popcorn
- Fruit dipped in chocolate
- Chocolate chip muffins
- Apples dipped in yogurt
- Energy balls made from dates and cacao
- Low-fat mini pumpkin pies
- Gluten-free, sugar-free cupcakes
And if you’re worried about over-indulging, why not do a bigger walk on your Trick or Treating? You can work off extra calories by going a few extra blocks!
Another great tip is to put away any candy at the end of the night, high up in a cupboard. You, and the kids, might forget about it. Or, alternatively, you can come to an arrangement that you’ll only indulge in one or two things each day. Just make sure your willpower is strong enough!
When Entertaining
If you’re having your own Halloween party this year, it’s a great opportunity to make sure adults and kids are all enjoying a healthy meal, before they start on the sweets. Before you go trick or treating, why not host a delicious BBQ or roast pork dinner or get a sushi platter that’s sure to delight?
The team at DJR Catering will set up everything for you, cook it all and present a delicious variety of appetizers, mains, sides and healthy desserts (such as a fruit platter) – and we’ll even clean up the mess before we leave. All we leave you with is full tummies and less chance you’ll over-eat the candy!
Remember to Have Fun
It doesn’t matter what you’re eating on Halloween – this is the holiday for fun. When you have your healthy snacks prepared – banana ghosts, apple monster lips, carrot witch fingers, and candy-corn-colored fruit popsicles – get on your costume and serve them up to your guests or Trick or Treaters. The more excited you are about your Halloween treats, the more excited others will be to enjoy them.
Don’t let Halloween get the better of your waistline. Get in touch with our team today to make a booking or to arrange a quote for your party this Halloween. We look forward to serving you (with a hint of sauce and salad on the side).
